The Week That Was

As you all know, last week I went to work during the TS Maring/Habagat days, you can read more about it here. We were supposed to go to Baguio last Wednesday until Saturday but because it was still raining last Wednesday, we decided to just leave Manila on Thursday. So I wasn't able to blog for almost a week!

Trying to capture the rain and rain clouds at Makati CBD

The weather was better last Thursday and it still improved once we got in Baguio. We only stayed there for 3 days as opposed to our original plan which was 4 days. We went back to Manila last Saturday so that we can have at least 2 days of rest before going back to work. Anyway, I'll create another entry about our Baguio escapade soon.

For now, I'll just post my outfit for last week :)

Let's start with Friday:

Singapore Trip - March 2013 - Day 6

Last entry for my Singapore series!

Day 6

Our last day in Singapore. Last minute shopping before going to the airport.

Me and M woke up early to go to the Louis Vuitton store in MBS. The shoes that M likes was not available in the other LV stores in Orchard road, so we had to travel all the way to MBS to buy it. We got there super early (we don't want to waste time) and waited for the store to open. Once we got inside, we (yes, I also found something to buy!) immediately got the shoes that we wanted and asked for the sizes. After fitting the shoes, we bought it already and asked for some drinks :p

After paying, we hurriedly went back to the hotel to finish packing up. By the time that we got back, Y has already packed and was just waiting for us because he still wants to buy something at Forever 21 Orchard.

Happy shopper!

Happy shopper :D

At the lobby of the hotel, I was asking for a taxi or shuttle to bring us to the airport. The concierge suggested that we just get the metered taxi because it is cheaper compared to the fixed rate taxi. We left the hotel around lunch time and got to the airport after 20 minutes. The fare costs 18 SGD only!

Before checking in our luggage, we went to the tax refund counters first to process our refund. That's when M decided to look at the total of all his purchases... a total of 2000+++ SGD (he got a 100+ SGD refund). BAD IDEA! I got curious as to how much I've spent so I also looked at my receipt... BOOM! 3000+ SGD! WTF?! WHAT DID I DO?!

I can't do anything about it anymore, the only consolation is that I was happy with all my shopping finds hahahahaha!

Tropical Storm Maring + Habagat

The rain hasn't stopped since last weekend but it is worse today (and yesterday). The rain is brought about by the moonsoon rain (habagat) due to tropical storm Maring (which is currently situated in north of Batanes, heading towards China).

A lot of people wasn't able to come in to work yesterday and I think more people won't be able to go to work today. There are a lot of areas in Metro Manila that are flooded and are not passable. People have been posting pictures in Facebook of the areas flooded (front of their house, SLEX, Buendia, Villages, etc.) and the rain doesn't seem to want to stop.

Me and M were contemplating on whether we should go to the office today or not (we were here yesterday!) because we don't want to get stuck on the road for 5 hours again or get stuck in the office but since we are on leave this coming Thursday and Friday, we decided to go to work and brave the rain and the flood. When we left the house, the rain was moderate but on the road going to work, it started raining heavily. Once we got inside the office, we got to look outside the window and saw that it is super dark and was raining very hard (M told me that EDSA is flooded already - north and south bound!). So we are now thinking, "How the hell are we going home?!" and "I think going to work today was a bad idea!". We think we are already stuck here in the office (I'm wishing they would provide free food since a lot of the stores outside are closed) and we are not sure now if we will still push through with our vacation plans this long weekend :(

Here's an excerpt that I got in Facebook:

Pag may bagyo:
Pre-School = Tao
Elementary = Tao
High School = Tao
College = Isda
May Trabaho = IMORTAL

LOL! Very true!

*By the way, the number coding is not lifted today... Thank you MMDA for being so considerate! (sarcasm)

After a month of trying, I finally finished level 285 of Candy Crush!!!

Hooray!!! Yebah!!! Yipee!!! Yahoo!!!

I was on the verge of giving up on this game because I've never been stuck in a level for so long (a month!). I already downloaded plants vs zombies 2 yesterday as a back up game hahahaha!

I'm so happy!!!

Fun Family Day at Resorts World

We spent the weekend at Resorts World last August 10-11 (no Republiq for me though... I have to try the food in Republiq cafe soon!).

We got a free room at Remington hotel again courtesy of my FIL (thanks!). It was a hectic but fun Saturday for the three of us.

We first went to Megamall to 1) have my dresses altered 2) pay our globe bills 3) have G's haircut 4) buy an accessory for the car in Concorde 5) eat at El Pollo Loco 6) buy snacks at the grocery. We finished around 2 pm and then headed to Remington hotel for our check-in. While waiting for our turn in the check-in counter, M bought the tickets for the screening of Smurfs 2. After checking in, we rested a bit inside the room before heading to the cinemas. G bought some popcorn and drinks before watching the movie (he likes munching while watching a movie). The movie is a bit funny adults but definitely a fun movie for kids. G liked it and was laughing all throughout the movie. When we exited the cinema, G saw the toys for sale and was asking begging us to buy him a toy. I let him choose between buying a toy and playing in the play area in Game Zoo. He chose the latter, so off we go the Game Zoo while M went to the casino to play.

I blinked lol!

and he copied me!

After playing, we went to Maxim's cafe or Cafe Maxim's first to have a snack before heading to dinner at Passion. G had a mango shake while I got the coffee and churros combo. Dinner at Passion was a treat from my in-laws (thanks!) and while eating dinner, G kept on bugging me to buy him the toy near the cinema. After I said no for the nth time, he asked money from his grandparents and even from Y hahahaha! He asked me how much was the toy he wanted (600 Php) and that was the amount that he asked for from his grandparents and Y. His grandma gave him 500 Php and Y gave him 100 Php. After he got the money, he was very excited to go the store and buy the toy. But once we get to the store, he can't decide what toy to buy anymore. He keeps on changing his mind, he wanted to buy the blue plane (from the movie planes), then the green plane, then the remote controlled plane (which was too expensive!), then the smurfs, the plane again... until he decided to buy the Mega Blocks Handy Smurf toy.

After buying the toy, we immediately went back to the hotel room so that he can open the toy already and play with it. We slept around 12 am and was excited for the activities the next day... eat breakfast! Hahahaha!

'Till our next Resorts World adventure!

Team Merienda

Team movie night out was scrapped because we were not complete (was supposed to watch Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo). It became a team merienda instead.

Office mate A treated us to a bucket of chicken joy and spaghetti from Jollibee! The movie night was rescheduled to some other time (no specific dates yet) but I'm hoping that it will still be a Tagalog movie because I rarely get to watch a Tagalog film (M doesn't want to watch with me).

Thanks A for the yummy merienda treat! :)

Now, on to my outfit that day. Since it was supposedly a movie night out, I wore a long skirt just enough to cover my legs when I sit in the movie house seats. Because the last time that I watched a movie while wearing a short skirt, my legs got bitten by insects (I dunno what kind, probably a zurot/surot [how the hell do you spell or call that?!]) and it got very itchy and was very red! So, ever since that incident I always wear a long skirt or pants to avoid getting bitten by insects again.

Hooray for a Sunny Tuesday!

It's sunny already! The storm has passed! I'm hoping that this will lessen the traffic and travel time, make our clean car last longer and I'll feel better soon (currently sick!).

Anyway, let me tell you what happened 2 weeks ago (Friday and Saturday).

We had a family dinner at Outback G4 last August 2. They have the best complimentary (and unlimited) bread and butter and we finally tried their prime rib steak (we usually go for the filet mignon). It was so good... it was tender and juicy and it comes with their delicious mashed potatoes. We also tried their burger with fries which was also juicy (and very big) and their combo appetizer. I didn't like their appetizer that much. The calamares did not taste fresh, the buffalo wings was not that spicy (and it smelled funny - amoy kilikili) and the Aussie fries with cheese was nothing spectacular (the appetizer of Friday's is much better). The food serving is good for 2 though (if you eat like a typical Pinoy), so it is better to share so as not to have left overs.

L-R: Burger, Herb crusted prime rib, 2 kinds of appetizers, complimentary bread and butter

Then August 3, we (me, M and our officemates) partied at Republiq in Resorts World. We got there early so we were able to watch a movie and have dinner first before the party starts :). We watched Red 2, it's a funny movie with a lot of twists... a feel good movie. Watch it if you haven't seen it you will be amused with John Malkovich and Helen Mirren. After the movie, we had dinner at Johnny Chow. The food in Johnny Chow is for sharing so be careful when ordering. My friends ordered 1 dish for each person so when the food came, it was too much for us to finish hahaha! Good thing that I just ordered a dimsum and mango sago. Their mango sago is a must try, it's delish!

We went inside Republiq a little early so that we can get our reserved platinum table. When partying, platinum is ALWAYS the way to go. You get your own bouncer/s and waiter/s. The table is very near the DJ and the area is guarded by a bouncer. Aside from that, you get to consume the amount you paid for, so it was all good. We got to order 3 vodka with orange and cranberry juice, 1 chivas, several beers and 4 orders of food.

It was also our first time to order food in Republiq. We...err... I ordered the spicy jalapeno popper dip. This is a must try, if you love cheese and spicy food then you got to have this! It was super yummy! I also ordered chicken quesadilla, which I wasn't able to try anymore, and the croquet with baked brie cheese with garlic and rosemary oil.

Next time, I'll try the food in Republiq Cafe.

*Watch out for my next Resorts World entry because I just came from there last Saturday (yeah! 2 consecutive Saturday!)
